Magnify

"Magnify" is a medium tempoed, praise song that draws from Psalm 34 that says, "O magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt his name together." The verses in "Magnify" bring out some broad attributes of God; who he is as Creator, Savior, Lord... And then my hope is that the chorus simply focuses us on Jesus himself.

LYRICS

Magnify the Lord with me, magnify the Lord with me He’s the God of the ages, with power and authority Magnify the Lord with me, magnify the Lord with me He’s the King of creation, with splendor and majesty, you are…

High and lifted up, High and lifted up Jesus, Jesus

Magnify the Lord with me, magnify the Lord with me He’s the God of salvation, the giver of destiny Magnify the Lord with me, magnify the Lord with me He’s the King of redemption, forever His praise will be

High and lifted up, High and lifted up Jesus, Jesus You are high and lifted up, High and lifted up Jesus, Jesus

Let us lift up the news of his grace Love has come in Jesus Christ He willingly died in our place And rose again, that we might live, unto Him and sing

High and lifted up, High and lifted up Jesus, Jesus You are high and lifted up, High and lifted up Jesus, Jesus

Because of You

One of my first songs as a young teen in 96, "Because of You", is a song that highlights the seemingly impossible task of what it means to live for Christ. There's only one answer to the verse's questions: Jesus and his gospel.

LYRICS

How can you change when your heart’s full of stone? How can you cry when all your feelings are gone? How can you run with your feet tied down? How can you stand on shaking ground? How can you love from a selfish place? What is belief if you don’t obey? Here I am with my hands held high

Because of You… only you Jesus Because of You… only you Jesus

How can you hear when you don’t understand? ?How can you see if you can’t comprehend? How can you build when you’re falling apart? How can you care from a broken heart? How can you give when your joy is gone? What is hope if you’re all alone? Here I am with my hands held high

Because of You… only you Jesus Because of You… only you Jesus Now I know what love is… It’s because of You, only You Now I know what love is… It’s because of You, only You

Here I am with my hands held high I stand by grace, I’m trusting in You I’m not wondering how I’m not asking why, Cause I know… I know

Because of You… only you Jesus Because of You… only you Jesus Now I know what love is… It’s because of You, only You Now I know what love is… It’s because of You, only You

Delight Yourself

The bible says that when we delight ourselves in God he gives us the desires of our hearts. I've seen many people (myself included) who have twisted this verse to mean very narrow things. Like "If I just put God first he'll give me that promotion..." which really doesn't put God first at all.

It seems to me, that when a person delights in something or someone, the very delight people possess becomes almost inseparable from their desire. No doubt God sees certain good, earthly desires that we have, and gives them to us - like a sick person getting better, or a child coming back to the Lord.

We are creatures with numerous and complex desires, but if we truly delight in God as our first and highest treasure he will also become our first and highest desire.

"Delight Yourself" is a song just about that...

Hallelujah, Praise The Lord

Often times Christians can view the gospel as the thing that just gives you a ticket to heaven; or simply the entrance to the Christian life. But actually it's the gospel that Christians should never move away from. It's the message of Christ as our substitue on the cross that is our only hope for acceptance, our source for the power to be like Jesus, and our hope of eternal, unfading, ever-increasing joy in the age that is to come.

Hallelujah Praise The Lord focuses on this reality. It is a song that works as a reminder of what C.J. Mahaney calls "the main thing".... The glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.

LYRICS

The cross of Jesus says it all Both love and wrath are shown Christ was crushed to pay it all Our infinite debt was owed

Grace flowed down in precious blood To cleanse us of our sin Now stand before the throne of God Now come and enter in

Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our Redeemer Christ the King By your grace we worship you, by your blood we stand and sing Oh you’ve washed us white as snow, of your mercy we’ve received Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our Redeemer Christ the King

In our place He died for us This gospel must be heard His perfect life he counts for us A love so undeserved

Hallelujah, praise the Lord, Our redeemer Christ the King By your grace we worship you, by your blood we stand and sing Oh you’ve washed us white as snow, of your mercy we’ve received Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our Redeemer Christ the King

We will not boast in anything, but the finished work of Christ. You alone are our righteousness, forever be glorified!

Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our Redeemer Christ the King By your grace we worship you, by your blood we stand and sing Oh you’ve washed us white as snow, of your mercy we’ve received Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our Redeemer Christ the King

You Are Good

Upbeat and centered on the faithfulness of God found only in Christ, "You Are Good" is a song that seeks to evoke celebration, praise, and joy. Of course I would hope that it isn't merely the song's happy tone that gets you in that place, but mainly the call that the music serves. Everyone come together! Look at what God has done for us in Christ!

LYRICS

Everyone come together Everyone celebrate The one who is worthy The one who is great You are great in power You are great in love This is the hour…. We taste and see…

You are good… And your love endures You are good… And your love endures

What compares to the wisdom That we see at the cross You’re a God showing mercy You’re a God who is just Let our hearts be awakened To the grace you’ve shown Let our lives say it loud…. We taste and see….

You are good… And your love endures You are good… And your love endures You’ve been faithful God You are good… And your love endures

Jesus your name, let it be lifted higher Your glory, your fame, God our one desire, We lay down our lives that you’d be seen as worthy oh God

You are good… And your love endures You are good… And your love endures You’ve been faithful God You are good… And your love endures
